Made-to-Measure

   Clothing that is made to an individual's body shape by creating and fitting on a custom-made dress form, from body measurements, or from a bodyscanned image. Made-to-measure clothing had been very popular until the introduction of ready-to-wear in the mid-nineteenth century. At that time, made-to-measure had been considered a luxury, reserved for only those who could afford couture clothing or the expert tailoring of suits from Savile Row. However, recent advances in bodyscanning technology have begun to offer made-to-measure to the masses. Companies such as Levi's, Brooks Brothers, Land's End, and numerous bridal companies offer customization options to increase product visibility and to provide their customers with better solutions to fittings.
